ART|Works by Ceramic Studio Tocoton

At pottery studio Tocoton, we continue to create both everyday tableware and free-form pieces using clay as our medium.

From the traditional Catalan Càntir to three-dimensional works inspired by Japanese Dogu and Haniwa, Anna reinterprets the encounters she has had between these two cultures through her own unique sensibility.

  • CÀNTIR | Cantir

A piece that reinterprets a traditional Catalan water pitcher through Anna's sensibilities and life in Japan.

  • SCULPTURE

Free-form three-dimensional works inspired by a variety of motifs, including dogu, haniwa, people, and animals.

  • EXHIBITIONS

We exhibit and present Tocoton's works, primarily in Japan and Catalonia.

That which dwells in the earth, that which dwells in nature.

Anna's work is deeply inspired by Jomon-period dogu figurines, Kofun-period haniwa, and the influence of animism.

While living in Japan, she has studied these forms and their underlying cultural contexts, expanding her interest to include Shinto as well.

The Japanese culture of sensing various entities and presences within nature resonates with her own sensibility, nurtured in the rich, natural environment of Catalonia.

This connection between two different lands manifests in Anna's work as free-flowing forms that evoke humans, animals, and nature.

Exhibitions | A place to encounter works

At pottery studio Tocoton, we are based in Osaka and exhibit our work in both Japan and Catalonia.

Through exhibition spaces, we present pieces created from time to time, including sculptural works distinct from everyday tableware, as well as Càntirs.
