Hola!
Thank you very much for your continued support.
This is Ryo from Pottery Tocoton.
For the Pottery Tocoton blog, we have adopted a style where L’Artesanna writes in Catalan and I write in Japanese.
If you would like to know my partner's thoughts, please feel free to use online translation tools such as Google Translate.
Now, for my momentous first post, I’d like to talk about the "fusion" of our craft.
I have built my career in web design. My first job after finishing school was as a systems engineer.
After many twists and turns, I became a web designer and director, and went independent as a web professional in 2011. Since then, I have continued to work on PC-based designs, focusing on web projects, as well as logos and business cards.
On the other hand, L’Artesanna built her career as a ceramicist in Barcelona and has been busy creating pottery every day since coming to Japan.
I create designs that cannot be touched by hand, while L’Artesanna creates designs that are handmade.
Although our craft is the same, we stand at opposite ends of the spectrum.
We started Pottery Tocoton together to make the most of our completely different backgrounds.
The ceramicist (L’Artesanna) doesn't just make pottery; she thinks about what kind of vessels customers want and how to deliver them to their hands. Meanwhile, as a web designer, I think about how to convey the quality of the products so that customers can understand it just by picking them up, and I provide design advice during the process of creating the physical items.
"Fusion" is only possible because we are creators from completely different fields.
Next, we will incorporate our customers' feedback into this "fusion" to create not the pottery that "everyone" wants, but pottery that "someone" specifically wants.
That someone might be you.
The next target of our fusion might be you...!
